Can you believe that we are in the third quarter of the year already? We have had an amazing year thus far. So much as happened for us this year and would we would like to thank you for walking with us through this journey of unleashing our youth potential through igniting, in-spiring and motivating them.
We are excited to announce that Dream Factory Foundation now offers job shadowing op-portunities. Ashwin Ambros,a grade 8 learner from Phoenix high school in Mannen-berg,and one of our champion learners who did exceptionally well during one of the coding sessions that we hosted, was given an opportunity to do a job shadow with Eduone, in Salt River. We have now connected and managed to organise and place our learners for job shad-owing opportunities with successful individuals in their respective career fields and with companies such as Eduone and Polyoak. We were also happy to shadow learner from Zola high school. Anda Mgobozi, currently in grade 12, had an amazing time as she learnt all about the ropes of multi-tasking with our dream team.
Our coding program which was introduced in the beginning of this year in January, has emerged in such a phenomenal way that it has now assisted high school and Primary schools both in the Western Cape and Eastern Cape provinces.
To name a few schools that we have coding sessions with: in January we were at the Gardens Commercial High School in the CBD, and 27 learners graduated from this coding program. In June we had coding sessions with Emagqabini education academy. The academy is based in Khayelitsha, where learners had a 5 day introductory course on coding. The training ended with a joyous graduation ceremony, where participants received certificates for completing the course. We also held coding sessions at Heideveld high school, Phoenix high school and Windsor high school. We are now currently at John Pama primary school in Nyanga and hoping to expand even further.
We also had an amazing "Just imagine" youth event in June, month where profession-als came together to form a phenomenal career expo for our young people. This event includ-ed the likes of DJ Loyd who is an entrepreneur ,mc, and radio dj. This multi- talent-ed dj gave us an insight in the music industry. We also had Tracy-Lee Rossiland, an amazing-ly talented creative stylist on fashion 101, where she gave us all the tips on fashion. Lastly we had JJ Fresh,an entrepreneur and dancer. This guy has incredible dance moves and he taught us just how it's done.
Now for the big one! You will be pleased to know that Dream Factory Foundation managed to snatch this years Youth Excellence Awards, under the leadership category. The awards were divided into three categories. Which were the gold category, silver and bronze category and additional categories for leadership and a special MEC award. Moreover, Laurian Nortje one of our co-founders, was nominated for the business woman of the year award in this year's Regional Business Achiever Awards.
